Joachim Henkel is a professor of technology and innovation management at TUM School of Management, Technical University of Munich. He holds a doctorate in economics and a degree in physics, and has spent sabbaticals at Harvard Business School, MIT, and Singapore Management University. He has been researching patent management, licensing, and standards for more than 20 years; his current research comprises the licensing of SEPs in the IoT context and the level of patent licensing in the value chain. Joachim Henkel has advised the European Commission on SEP issues, was a coauthor of the "Pilot Study for Essentiality Assessment of SEPs", and regularly serves as an expert witness in SEP-related litigation.
