Andrés Rincón has 22 years of IP experience, focused on patents, plant breeding rights and regulatory affairs related to chemical synthesis and biological pharmaceutical and agrochemical products. He has a JD in law from Javeriana University (Colombia 1998), with specialised IP studies from the Externado University (2002), he is a scholarship holder from the AlßAN programme of the European Commission (2006) and he has an LLM in IP from the Max Planck Institute and George Washington University, through the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center, Germany (2007). Andres has successfully intervened in the most important cases of compulsory licences, patent validity and infringement, before both Colombian and Andean courts. His main areas of expertise are innovation, drafting, prosecution and litigation of patents and industrial designs, life sciences, plant breeding rights and test data protection. He is an active member of different patent committees before AIPLA, ASIPI, AIPPI and ACPI, and he is the current ACPI representative from Colombia before the biotechnology and pharmaceuticals committees. He is a top-ranked lawyer by IAM 1000 Patents. He is fluent in English, German and Spanish.
