Andrea is a strategic and passionate advocate with extensive litigation experience in intellectual property and commercial disputes, including before the Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal, and Ontario Superior and Divisional Courts. Her practice focuses largely on patent litigation, including in the pharmaceuticals, software, telecommunications and oil and gas sectors.

Before joining Gilbert’s, Andrea worked in Beijing for the M&A group of one Asia’s premier law firms. As part of her Gilbert’s practice, Andrea has advised clients of all sizes in various commercial transactions, including endorsement and marketing agreements, IP licensing and assignments, and pre-litigation damages and settlement assessments. 

Andrea completed her BSc at the University of Toronto, where she was selected as a research student for the Department of Evolutionary Biology and published a peer-reviewed article. During her time at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, Andrea also summered for the Organization of American States and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in Washington, D.C. There she worked for the precautionary measures unit, presenting several urgent cases on behalf of human rights defenders, displaced persons, indigenous peoples, and members of various other vulnerable groups. Andrea is also fluent in Spanish, and enjoys a philosophical debate every so often.
