USPTO Director Iancu joins the stellar speaking faculty for IPBC Global 2018 this June

Andrei Iancu, who became USPTO Director earlier this month, is the latest big name speaker to confirm for IPBC Global 2018, being held at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco from 10th to 12th June. He joins what is shaping up to be the strongest and most prestigious IPBC Global speaking faculty we have assembled since the event began in 2008.

During the course of his confirmation process Iancu gave little away about how he would approach the myriad major issues – many of them highly controversial – that face the US IP system. His appearance at IPBC Global will be one of the first opportunities that patent owners and their advisers will have to hear him speak directly about his priorities and views on topics such as patent eligibility, quality, the PTAB and patent office funding.

There are two other keynote speakers at IPBC Global 2018: GE’s chief innovation officer, and GE Ventures CEO, Sue Siegel – who will be giving the inside track on how the company has re-engineered its approach to IP value creation over recent years; and European Patent Office president Benoît Battistelli – who will be talking about the patent challenges posed by the fourth industrial revolution. They will be joined by a host of other industry leaders, including:

  • Gustav Brismark, Chief IP officer, Ericsson

  • Colm Dobbyn, General counsel, intellectual property, Mastercard

  • John Han, Senior vice president and general manager, Qualcomm Technology Licensing

  • Katherine Ku, Executive director, the office of technology licensing, Stanford University

  • Lisa McFall, Deputy general counsel, intellectual property, Workday, Inc

  • Tanya Moore, Chief licensing officer, Sonos

  • John Mulgrew, Global head, intellectual property, Uber

  • Ilkka Rahnasto, Head, patent business, Nokia

  • Phyllis Turner-Brim, Vice president and assistant general counsel, intellectual property and technology, Starbucks

  • Ben Wang, Vice-president and chief IP counsel, ZTE

  • Stephan Wolke, Head, corporate intellectual property, ThyssenKrupp AG

As you’d expect, demand for delegate places at IPBC Global 2018 is high, so if you want to ensure you are in the audience to hear the contributions from Iancu and dozens of other IP rainmakers, you are strongly advised to book your place at the event now.
