Top speakers confirmed for February 2016 San Francisco event on EU's new, game-changing patent regime

Speaker recruitment has now begun for IAM’s Inside Europe’s New Patent Market: Winning Strategies for the UPC Regime conference, being held at the Golden Gate Club in San Francisco on 18th February 2016. With a programme specifically designed for a US audience, the event’s faculty is already beginning to fill up with some very big names. Alongside a host of senior practitioners from major European law and attorney firms, we have also confirmed:

  • Margot Fröhlinger, Principal Director of Patent Law, European Patent Office

  • Manny Schechter, Chief Patent Counsel, IBM

  • Micky Minhas, Head of Patent Strategy, Microsoft

  • Luke McLeroy, Licensing Director, Ericsson

  • Noah Mesel, General Counsel, Unwired Planet

More people of similar calibre will be added over the coming weeks, ensuring that Inside Europe’s New Patent Market will be the highest quality gathering of expertise about the new EU unitary patent and Unified Patent Court (UPC) to be assembled in North America before the system gets underway, possibly as soon as the beginning of 2017.

As IAM readers know, the launch of the EU unitary patent and the Unified Patent Court (UPC) will create a single jurisdiction encompassing four G8 economies and a total population of approximately 420 million people. It will have a major impact on all US entities that do business in Europe and that hold patents there.

Inside Europe’s New Patent Market will provide vital insights into how the new regime will work, as well as analysis of the challenges and opportunities that it will offer.

Demand for delegate places at the event is very high – indeed, we have already reached our quota limit on delegate places for individuals working at European law firms, patent attorney firms and service providers, so unfortunately will not be able to offer any further places to them. However, registration is still open for anyone working inside an IP owning entity wherever it is located, as well as private practice lawyers, attorneys, service providers and consultants based outside Europe.

A discounted registration fee of $545 is on offer until 17th November, representing a saving of $350 on the standard price. You can secure your place at the discounted rate by registering online before 17th November and entering the code SEB1AE as directed.
