The research process for the IAM Strategy 300 2017 launches today

It is that time of year again when we embark on the monumental task of identifying the world’s leading IP strategists for inclusion in the IAM Strategy 300. Thankfully, we don’t have to do it alone. Each year we ask the IP community – and beyond – to submit nominations for those individuals who they believe are leading the way in the creation of IP value, and you never let us down.

However, in order that we ensure that our guide really is as accurate and up-to-date as it possibly can be, this year we are levelling the playing field and starting the research totally from scratch.  What this means is that, regardless of whether an individual was included in the guide last year (or, indeed, every year since the guide’s inception), they will need to be nominated for inclusion in the 2017 edition of the guide.

In 2015 we widened the criteria to include IP owners, so that means that candidates can come from operating companies, research institutes and universities, as well as non-operating companies, law firms, advisory or consultancy firms. Indeed, an individual can come from absolutely anywhere that intellectual property is seen and/or used as a strategic asset.

The minimum requirement for inclusion in the guide is three nominations from outside the individual’s own organisation. Those who meet this criterion will be included on a long-list and given the opportunity to submit any background information that they feel could support their nomination. This information, as well as research conducted by the IAM editorial team, will provide the basis for selection of those individuals included in the IAM Strategy 300 2017.

If you would like to nominate individuals for potential inclusion in the IAM Strategy 300, please visit our nomination website at:

Please be aware that all nominations and personal details are strictly confidential, and that self-nominations and nominations from individuals working in the same organisation as the nominee will not be accepted.

The nomination process closes on Monday November 28 2016. We look forward to receiving your nominations; if you have any questions about eligibility or the research process in the meantime, please contact [email protected].
