A patent holder can send a warning letterand seek an out-of-court settlement with analleged infringer. A successful warning letteris the most effective way to enforce rights, since it is subject to no formalities and costslittle. If no solution can be found in this way,or through arbitration or mediation (to whichthe alleged infringer must agree), the patentholder has no option other than to enforceits patent through a court action.
