Patent Law & Policy 2016 will explore how the new US president and Congress will affect the patent landscape

Unsurprisingly, patents have not been a subject of discussion in the US presidential campaign. However, with the election just weeks away, the direction that the new administration takes on IP policy - particularly at a time when patent reform remains on the legislative agenda - will affect all US patent owners.

Taking place on 15th November, a week after the election is held, IAM’s Patent Law and Policy 2016 conference in Washington DC will offer the first opportunity to discuss and analyse how the patent landscape is likely to evolve under the new administration and Congress. But that's not all. Other topics we will discuss include:

  • The state of patent litigation in 2016, covering the key decisions from the Federal Circuit and the Supreme Court - including recent, potentially major Federal Circuit decisions helping to clarify Alice
  • How four years of inter partes reviews have affected patent litigation strategies
  • How courts and policymakers continue to grapple with FRAND licensing
  • The view from investors on how the legal and legislative climates impact their investment decisions
