IPBC Global 2016 will take place in Barcelona from 5th to 7th June; registration now open
The preliminary programme for IPBC Global 2016, which takes place in Barcelona from 5th to 7th June at the Hotel Arts, has been published and registration is now open.
Widely regarded as the world’s pre-eminent conference focusing on IP value creation, the IPBC Global always attracts a sell-out crowd of leading corporate IP decision-makers, senior executives at NPE and aggregation firms, investors, intermediaries and private practice lawyers and attorneys.
The 2016 edition is set to take place at a time of continuing evolution in the international IP market. Not only will the launch of the EU unitary patent and Unified Patent Court encourage the further development of patent-based transactions and financings in Europe, but an increasing number of companies in Asia are also focusing on the acquisition of rights to enable freedom to operate in new territories, as well as looking to secure returns on large procurement budgets through the development of sophisticated licensing and sales programmes.
Alongside these developments, though, are others that point to a more collaborative approach to IP value creation. Traditional assertion-based monetisation models are coming under pressure as courts, regulators and legislators in the US make life harder for patent owners in various ways. Operating companies and NPEs alike are exploring new business models involving technology licensing, commercialisation, spin-outs and other IP-based business partnerships, while new sectors – such as the Internet of Things and the Cloud – encourage strategies that actively encompass multiple forms of intellectual property.
For chief IP officers – the key demographic at every IPBC events – all this means that the challenges are becoming more complicated and the solutions much more sophisticated. Join us in Barcelona to explore the ways in which the IP industry’s thought-leaders are adapting to this changing world, as well as to learn how they see it developing further over the coming years.
The last IPBC Global took place in San Francisco in June 2015 and attracted a sell-out crowd of over 680 attendees. As has become standard IPBC policy, we operated a sector quota system in order to guarantee a variety of outlooks and experiences among delegates. This will be repeated for Barcelona in 2016, with quotas for the following:
Intermediaries and investors
Non-practising entities and aggregators
Policy makers and academics
Private practice lawyers, patent and trademark attorneys
Other service providers
There will be no limit on attendees from operating companies.
Once we hit a quota limit, we will be unable to offer further places at IPBC Global 2016 to those from the relevant sector. Thus, anyone wishing to attend is strongly advised to secure a place as early as possible.
IPBC Global 2016 will offer unrivalled opportunities to discuss cutting-edge issues and network with the people who make the world’s IP weather. We look forward to welcoming you to Barcelona this coming June.
