IPBC Asia returns to the Palace Hotel in Tokyo this October and there's a lot to discuss
Since the first IPBC Asia in Singapore in 2013, the region's IP marketplace has grown significantly. Local corporates have not only expanded their portfolios, but have also become more active in IP litigation and transactions. A few years ago Asian rights holders were struggling to get to grips with IP monetisation, assertion and transaction dynamics; now, we are seeing them make deals not only with Western operating companies, such as the one Nokia and Xiaomi announced today, but also with a wide range of NPEs.
Under the banner “Maximising corporate IP value”, IPBC Asia’s 2017 programme takes the core themes of IP value creation and strategic corporate IP management, and discusses these in a specially Asian context.
Taking place in Tokyo between 29th and 31st October, this year's event will focus on a number of issues that have an impact on the IP value creation strategies of Asian rights owners. Big data and trade secrets are increasingly important elements of the IP spectrum which has traditionally focused on patents and trademarks; and executives from the consumer products, automobile, software, internet and electronics industries will be sharing the immense value of big data, as well as looking at how to utilise trade secrets to protect assets and preserve competitive advantage. Delegates will also hear seasoned deal-makers share insights on patent sales and licensing transactions.
As the global IP market presents multi-faceted changes and constant uncertainties, chief IP officers of Asian and international corporates are often confronted with big decisions at key moments. One of our plenary sessions at IPBC Asia 2017 will convene a panel of CIPOs to share crisis management and leadership lessons. Another plenary panel will ask heads of IP from Asia IP Elite companies to describe what a successful IP function looks like, and how to build one.
Hosted at the Palace Hotel, next to the Emperor's residence in the heart of the Japanese capital, IPBC Asia 2017 has attracted tremendous attention and enthusiasm from the host country’s corporate IP leaders. Although the event is still close to four months away, we already have an outstanding Japanese speaker line-up that includes senior executives from Toyota Motor, Nissan, Honda Motor, Hitachi, NEC, Nikon, IP Bridge, Panasonic, Sony, Fujitsu, Canon, Takeda Pharmaceutical, and Mitsubishi Electric.
The fifth annual IPBC Asia kicks off with strong momentum, and is looking to be a very dynamic and exciting event. Book your place here.
