IAM to partner with Beijing regional government to host special IPBC China in April

In an exciting new development for IAM and the IPBC brand, we are currently in the process of organising a special IPBC China in Beijing with the support of the Haidian District Government and in partnership with the Haidian IP Cooperation Organisation.

Taking place on 21st and 22nd April, IPBC China 2015 is designed to address some of the major IP challenges now confronting corporate Chinese IP leaders and policy makers, but will also be open to international delegates on an invitation-only basis.

This is the first time we have organised an IPBC with the support of the Chinese authorities and we are delighted to be working with them to produce what we believe will be a truly memorable educational and networking event.

There will be four conference sessions, each exploring a theme that is of key concern to Chinese IP owners:

  • How to build, manage and create maximum value from an IP portfolio domestically and internationally, making sure you are not subject to patent attack when you move out of the domestic market.

  • The increasing importance of the IP/anti-trust nexus – dealing with competition authorities in China and overseas; navigating the SEP and FRAND maze.

  • Developments affecting litigation in China, the United States and Europe. How new IP courts at home, patent reform in the States and the impending EU patent and unified court regime in the EU will affect strategic thinking.

  • The rise of IP financing and investment – accessing investment through IP, deals done at home and abroad, benefits and drawbacks.

China has enjoyed a meteoric IP rise – and there is a lot more to come. The recent shift in government policy to focus on innovation-based growth is certain to drive the next wave of Chinese success stories and fuel even greater IP market activity. Its companies face a range of challenges both at home and abroad as they seek to compete in markets that have traditionally been dominated by entities based in North America, Europe and other parts of Asia. And for the traditional market leaders, the rise of Chinese competition is also a significant issue and one that requires in-depth understanding.

Under the banner of “Maximising IP value”, IPBC China will combine both world-class educational sessions and unique networking opportunities. The programme will be fully bilingual and commence with a VIP welcome cocktail reception on the evening of 21st April. This will be followed by the full-day IPBC conference programme on 22nd April and will conclude with the key networking event, the China IP Elite Gala Dinner, that evening.

IPBC China 2015 will be an invitation-based event with an audience of 250 delegates drawn primarily from three key groups: chief IP officers, heads of intellectual property or their equivalents at major Chinese enterprises; their counterparts at major multinationals; and leading IP investors, aggregators, intermediaries, regulators and service providers.
