Government pledges "No more counterfeit software!"

During a recent interim meeting Vice Premier Wang QiShan announced that as planned, there is no more counterfeit software within the Chinese government up to the provincial level as of 30th June 2012.

The campaign against counterfeit software began in October 2001, when the Chinese government called for the removal of all counterfeit software at the central, provincial and city levels. In Autumn 2010 the campaign was extended to the government at the county level.

Wang emphasised that the no-counterfeit campaign is a challenging but highly important mission. Not only should officials be held accountable, effective mechanisms should continue to be put in place to strengthen the supervision of ongoing efforts.

The government has pledged to have only genuine software in place within the government up to the city and county levels by the end of 2013.
