Ivan Chaperot - Independent consultant
Ivan Chaperot is a business adviser, mentor and investor who helps companies create shareholder value by developing global IP strategies, developing intellectual asset management practices and resolving critical IP situations.
Until 2017 Mr Chaperot was vice president of licensing and corporate development at the Kudelski Group, a digital security and media company. In this role, Mr Chaperot conducted licensing negotiations and developed and managed the acquisition of patented technologies and innovative companies. From 2014 to 2015 he was vice president of licensing at Finjan Holdings, a cybersecurity company. In this role, Mr Chaperot led Finjan’s global licensing activities, negotiated and closed global outbound licensing transactions and managed a team of business, technology and IP professionals. From 2012 to 2014 he held various management positions at Intel Corporation and led large-scale and complex technology and IP acquisitions. He also developed new IP and licensing strategies. From 2008 to 2012 he served as a licensing executive at Intellectual Ventures. In this role, he managed investment and outbound licensing programmes. From 2004 to 2008 he served as senior licensing manager at Alcatel Lucent, now Nokia. In this role, he managed outbound licensing programmes and patent divestitures. From 2000 to 2004, Mr Chaperot was an in-house patent attorney at Thales Group, an aerospace, defence and security company where he managed the development of patent portfolios and provided legal advice.
Mr Chaperot has authored and lectured on financial valuation and licensing activities – in particular, real-option valuations for complex IP transactions.
Mr Chaperot is a European patent attorney and a French patent attorney. He holds an MS in optics and image processing from the Institut d’Optique Graduate School in France.
