Phil Jeffrey - Dehns
Phil Jeffrey is a partner at Dehns, a Tier 1 European patent and trademark attorney firm and the largest filer of European patent applications. Dr Jeffrey has worked in intellectual property for over 24 years and is qualified as a chartered UK patent attorney, European patent attorney and European design attorney. He has a first-class honours degree in physics and PhD in laser physics and photorefractive materials.
Dr Jeffrey has technical expertise in a wide range of high-tech physics and engineering fields, including photonics, optoelectronics, mass spectrometry, ion sources, ion guides, oil drilling and exploration, oil well drilling bits, immunoassays, nanotechnology, holography, lasers, optical devices, printers, smartphones, optical communication systems, imaging apparatus and endoscopes. He is an expert in patent drafting, patent prosecution, IP portfolio management and IP strategy. Dr Jeffrey is experienced in proceedings before the European Patent Office and the US Patent and Trademark Office.
Dr Jeffrey is particularly interested in helping start-ups to develop and align their IP strategy and IP portfolio to increase venture capital investability. He assists start-ups with venture capital funding rounds and advises companies on secondary buyouts, as well as explaining and defending IP strategy to venture capital and private equity investors.
Dr Jeffrey is a member of Dehns’ management board and is the firm’s business development partner. He has spoken at conferences in the United States and China and is a regular visitor to the United States and the Far East. Dr Jeffrey has a longstanding and growing list of UK, European, US, Japanese and Chinese clients.
