European Patent Office

The European Patent Office (EPO) had a busy 2016. Driven by a significant upsurge in interest from Chinese companies, the number of European patent applications rose to 296,000; with impressive new efficiency measures in place, some 96,000 patents were granted – a 40% increase on 2015.
