Helen G Papaconstantinou is managing partner of Dr Helen G Papaconstantinou and Partners. Previously, she headed the law office of Dr PD Theodorides – Dr HG Papaconstantinou (established in 1920 by Dr Theodorides) and was founder and senior partner of Dr Helen Papaconstantinou, John Filias & Associates.
Under her leadership, these businesses evolved into one of the leading IP practices in Greece, covering all aspects of IP law.
Dr Papaconstantinou graduated from the University of Athens and earned a doctorate from the Free University of Berlin. Moreover, she held an academic teaching position at the University of Athens for a number of years.
Dr Papaconstantinou is president of the Greek group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and a member of its executive committee. She is a member of the European Patent Institution and the executive committee of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys. Other memberships include the European Communities Trademark Association, the International Trademark Association, the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, the Institute of Trademark Attorneys and the Union of European Practitioners in Intellectual Property. As a committed member of these organisations, she has been actively involved in the development and formation of new strategies and practices on IP matters.
Dr Papaconstantinou is recognised as a leading expert in the IP field and has distinguished herself in patent and trademark litigation on behalf of many major companies in several sectors, including pharmaceuticals, fashion, food and services.
