Trial lawyer Marla R Butler is a partner in the IP and technology litigation practice at Robins Kaplan LLP and a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. She has spent the past two decades litigating and leading high-stakes IP and patent litigation trials, Markman hearings, mediations and arbitrations. Her representations – which have included critical early case evaluations and assessments – have helped technology clients in the manufacturing, medical, semiconductor, LCD, networking and other electronics technologies industries to monetise their patent assets and defend against lawsuits that threaten their businesses.
As a partner and firm leader, Ms Butler has an enhanced understanding of the nuanced business issues that clients face. Her leadership roles include serving on the firm’s executive board and as chair of its diversity committee (from 2008 to 2014). She previously served as both assistant managing partner and hiring partner for the firm’s New York office.
Ms Butler is a member of the board of directors of Lambda Legal. She is a recipient of the One Child, One Lawyer Volunteer of the Year award from the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation.
Ms Butler was recently named one of the Top Women Attorneys by Super Lawyers, one of the Top 250 Women in Intellectual Property by Managing Intellectual Property, a Minority Powerbroker by Law360, and among the Women Worth Watching in the 10th annual Profiles in Diversity Journal issue.
