Michal Havlík is a partner and attorney at law at Všetečka Zelený Švorčík Kalenský and Partners. He is a member of the Czech and Slovak Bar Associations. He joined the firm in 2000 after completing his law degree at Charles University, Prague and Cardiff Law School.
Mr Havlík provides valuable advice and assists clients in prosecution, as well as in contentious matters concerning patents, trademarks and designs and unfair competition. His broad litigation experience enables him to craft and implement effective IP enforcement strategy with respect to the specific circumstances of each case. He has successfully handled complex patent litigation, including damages claims, and has obtained numerous preliminary injunctions to prevent the sale of patent-infringing products in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Since 2008, Mr Havlík has been highly recommended as a leading IP lawyer in the Czech Republic by Chambers Europe. He regularly speaks at international IP conferences and publishes articles on IP law. He is the author of the Czech chapters of the Kluwer Manual of Industrial Property and the International Trademark Association Opposition Guide and contributes to the Kluwer trademark blog. He is also a member of the editorial board of Industrial Property Magazine, published by the Czech Industrial Property Office.
Mr Havlík is a member of the IP section of the Czech Bar Association. Since 2015, Mr Havlík has served as the president of the Czech national group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property. He is also a member of the European Communities Trademark Association Designs and Membership Committees, the Pharmaceutical Trademarks Group, the International Trademark Association and MARQUES.
Mr Havlík acts as a panellist for the World Intellectual Property Organisation Arbitration and Mediation Centre and the Czech Arbitration Court in alternative dispute resolution for ‘.cz’ and ‘.eu’ top-level domain names.
