Thomas Britven is president of ASQ Consulting Group. With more than 30 years’ experience as an economic consultant and trusted adviser, Mr Britven has served clients in hundreds of financial damages claim and business consulting matters. His extensive expertise includes complex financial damages analysis in intellectual property, breach of contract, business interruption, unfair competition, forensic accounting and business valuation disputes.
As a trusted business adviser, Mr Britven has provided dispute support in hundreds of cases and expert testimony at over 50 trials, arbitrations and mediations involving lost profits, reasonable royalties and unjust enrichment, among other things. Mr Britven's IP experience includes patents, trademarks, trade dress, copyright and trade secrets.
Recently, Mr Britven served as an expert witness on behalf of Epic Systems concerning trade secret misappropriation relating to electronic health record software. The jury returned a verdict in favour of Epic, after which Judge Conley entered final judgment for $420 million in combined compensatory and punitive damages.
Mr Britven has applied his IP damages, valuation, licensing and strategy skills in numerous complex matters in many diverse areas, including aerospace, automotive, banking, biotechnology, computers, consumer products, healthcare, industrial products, manufacturing, medical devices, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, software, telecommunications and wireless technologies. He has also served as president of the Licensing Executives Society Foundation.
Mr Britven is a certified licensing professional, public accountant, valuation analyst, fraud examiner and a chartered global management accountant.
Mr Britven received his bachelor’s degree in business administration in accounting from the University of Iowa. He is also a graduate of the Owner/President Management programme at Harvard Business School.
