Tim Gilbert is the founder and managing partner of Gilbert’s, and is a litigator and an entrepreneur. He leads the firm’s litigation group and is known for his creativity in advocacy and business development for clients.
Mr Gilbert’s approach to advocacy is fearless, often representing the underdog in David-versus-Goliath battles.
Mr Gilbert is results driven which, in advocacy, includes getting to trial as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Mr Gilbert has the unique ability to sort through complex technical arguments, focus on the key issues in disputes and explain them in clear, simple terms to the court. He also has a comprehensive approach to advocacy, often involving strategic market positioning of clients and advocacy before key government stakeholders, where appropriate, to effect change.
Extensively experienced in regulatory work, Mr Gilbert has also successfully represented clients’ interests before Canadian and US legislators, the US Food and Drug Administration, Health Canada, the Competition Bureau and the US Federal Trade Commission, among other bodies.
Mr Gilbert is a sessional instructor in intellectual property and creativity at OCAD University, Toronto and a part-time instructor of trial advocacy at the University of Toronto.
