Christian Arkelius is a partner and head of the Stockholm office at Ström & Gulliksson.

As a registered European and Swedish patent attorney, Mr Arkelius is committed to finding creative, proactive and strategic solutions for his clients. He focuses primarily on strategic patent counselling, contentious matters and opinion work, including patent infringement, patent validity and freedom to operate. He is also regularly called on to draft, file and prosecute patent applications.

With a background in industrial engineering and management and 15 years of experience in the IP field, Mr Arkelius has developed a deep understanding of different clients’ needs and how intellectual property can help them to achieve their business goals. His clients are primarily found in the sectors of information and communications technology, software, financial services, streamed media services, consumer electronics and general mechanics. Further, Mr Arkelius has extensive experience of computer-implemented inventions and is often consulted in patent matters relating to patent-eligibility standards and related case law in various jurisdictions, including Europe, Sweden, the United States and China.

Before returning to Ström & Gulliksson in 2011, Mr Arkelius was an in-house patent counsel at Ericsson where he focused mainly on patent portfolio management and Chinese patent invalidation cases before the Patent Re-examination Board in Beijing, China.

Mr Arkelius is a member of the patent committee of the Association of Intellectual Property Law Firms in Sweden. The patent committee provides opinions and comments on reports issued by committees appointed by the Swedish government for the analysis of issues in anticipation of proposed patent legislation.
