Hong Kong media reports claim that Huawei recently withdrew a patent invalidation case against ZTE, in a move that is interpreted as the two telecom rivals attempting to present a united front. This may be reading too much into a relatively routine administrative case. But it is true that China’s entire tech sector – and Huawei in particular – is watching ZTE’s predicament closely and preparing for the worst.
