Last week an entity called INVT SPE filed two infringement lawsuits against Apple and HTC in a New Jersey federal district court. Two big tech companies falling into the crosshairs of a patent assertion vehicle is nothing new - except this one owns patents formerly controlled by the public IP company (PIPCO) Inventergy, which originated with Panasonic and are now in the hands of Fortress. The two cases appear to be the first public sign of the investment giant’s IP group launching an assertion campaign using the PIPCO’s former patents.
