Via Licensing's latest deal in China illustrates benefits of a “flexible” approach 19 Dec 16
Dolby subsidiary Via Licensing and Lenovo have announced a deal which makes the Chinese company the newest member of the pool operated by Via for Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) patents. Ira Blumberg, Lenovo’s vice president for intellectual property, praised negotiators on the other side for “recognising and flexibly addressing unique market circumstances applicable to China and other emerging markets”. Speaking with IAM, Via president Joe Siino confirmed that the name of the game in China right now is crafting a China-specific strategy that focuses on win-win collaboration opportunities.
